Representation of goods

Whilst we take great care to ensure all goods are represented as accurately and as clearly as possible, there may be small variations in colour, weight, dimensions and description of goods. As with the nature of linen and the handmade nature of our products, there may be small discrepancies in size. Furthermore, while the colour reproduction of the products is a close representation, we cannot accept any responsibility for any variation in colour caused by the browser software or computer system used to view the products.

We are committed to the use of ethical, naturally produced fabrics, which are, where possible, produced in the UK. As such there may be natural variations between rolls of fabric. If we have to split your order between rolls, we will always notify you first. If you require colour matched fabrics, we would recommend purchasing the quantity you require in one order, to ensure it comes from the same batch.

Shrinkage and colour fading

All products and fabrics made using natural fibres will suffer some shrinkage after successive laundering. This can effect the original length and width up to approximately 10-15%. Fabrics with a washed or laundered finish will have most, but not necessarily all, this shrinkage removed. Please check our care instruction for best practices when caring for your linens.

When used in the application of curtains or blinds, linens will be subject to some amount of fading over time, the best way to prevent this would be to use a lining or blackout lining.

We would always recommend the use of a professional cleaner who is able to clean your window dressings in situ. Hoovering your window dressings once a week in situ will also reduce the need for professional cleaning. It is not recommended to use any detergent that contains bleaching agent, chlorine and peroxide as this will cause significant bleaching to our creamier coloured fabrics.

Fire Retardant Fabrics

Our fabrics have many end-uses however the fabrics are not treated for fire resistance. In the United Kingdom the Furniture and Furnishing (Fire Safety) Regulation 1988 (as amended in 1989, 1993 and 2010) set levels of fire resistance. This relates to upholstered furniture, furnishings and other products containing upholstery.

We supply fabrics to trade customers for many uses and our fabrics do not possess any special fire resistance treatments.

There are a number of companies which can treat fabrics in cut lengths or rolls, or in the case of curtains, on-site, to meet the fire safety regulations. Upholstery companies, or companies which make-up finished goods for upholstery or curtain end-uses should be aware of these regulations.

It is up to the customer to establish whether they require flame retardant fabric.
