It could be said that we have a fondness for tassels. And that we would add a trim tassel or flourish at any opportunity, within the realms of taste and sensibility.

That being said, without the proper know how it can be difficult to understand where a trim fits within a scheme, where it will work alongside a fabric, rather than overwhelm it, or even whether it’s an option practically. 

So from the downright outrageous to the almost invisible, we’ve selected some of our favourite trims, passementerie, tassel projects and how to execute them below.

The art of the key tassel

Tassels cleverly situated here, adding a glorious decorative detail to this warm bedroom. The pair of tassels brings a softness to the natural grain of the wood.

The fringed curtain

For those that that don't feel a patterned fabric is suitable for them, using a fringe is an excellent way to add interest to a plain fabric. The long fringe softens the curtain’s silhouette, creating a sense of movement and depth that draws the eye.

The foot stool
