Curtain hanging 1 : Tree of life & silk curtain
A rich block printed Indian tree of life panel bordered by raw antique silk panels. The hanging depicts a tree grown from a mound & surrounded by birds, animals & foilage. It is a scene bursting with life and enclosed with an ornate border detail.
In 2022 we embarked on a project to repurpose various textile pieces by carefully piecing them together and having them made up into hand sewn curtains by a team of expert makers. The intention was to create something new with the character that is of something of considerable age and character.
The silk panels have been pieced back together with opposing grains and slight variations in colour to create a subtle patchwork effect.
The curtain has been hand sewn with a cotton interliner and lined in a complimentary green needlecord. The pinch pleat heading is pre-fitted with hooks for hanging on rings.
